Amy Pilkington

My passion has always been discovery.

I grew up in Australia. My pony and I would venture off alone. Once we found a small waterfall with a spring, we were both hot and thirsty so I took off his saddle and bridle by the edge of the pool and he followed me in. I sat chest deep and he stood next to me, both of us enjoying the clear cool water and hearing the water trickle through the rocks under the shade of the trees. Completely free and there by choice.

My studio is my sanctuary and laboratory where I experiment and push boundaries. Much like the waterfall, it provides a place for me to be brave, courageous, and where I exist in perfect harmony with my world.

Whatever the form it takes, it is a journey, a deep dive of exploration, and the art is the byproduct.

My practice is my therapy, my solace, my love, my fuel.

To live with my work is to share a moment of connection, to place, to time, to the past and to the present.
